Aural Sculptures are hi-fi loudspeakers with enclosures designed for fabrication by additive manufacturing methods (“3D printing”). These allow for both, inimitable visual creations and advanced acoustic properties.
Aural Sculptures allow for almost infinite possibilities to dress superior sound transmission in a visual appearance of individual taste and very different from the mainstream design for hi-fi speaker boxes. The seamless driver enclosure with irregular inner volume dimensions is unique and provides fundamental benefits to the driver performance. The outer shape can morph almost independently. The variety of tactile enclosure surfaces or individual figural applications can make any Aural Sculpture an imitable objet d’art.
The shape of an Aural Sculpture is not limited to a specific style. Organic free-form silhouettes are as possible as architectural or frugal geometric forms. Replication of existing characters and artwork is possible under consideration of copyright. Restrictions are technically to maintaining the driver arrangement and the proper inner volume dimensions. Sharp edges and vertexes should be avoided.
The shapes of Aural Sculptures can be morphed to meet individual interior requirements, e.g., serving as exposed freestanding sculptures or adapted to walls, corners or room niches, self-supporting or wall-mounted.
The speaker cabinets of Aural Sculptures are made of pourable materials such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polyamide 12 (PA12) or sand. These materials are polymerized, melted or cemented in specific processes known by the terms “Additive Manufacturing” and “3D Printing”. Parts and products made this way are already established in branches like aeronautics, automotive, medical engineering, robotics, apparel and, of course, in sculpting.
Aural Sculptures have not been tested for outdoor durability. The currently provided high-end drivers are for indoor home use only.
